Organisation Map: Interactive Map, Markers and Directions

Add an interactive map to your organisation page with custom markers for entrances, parking and facilities, plus What3Words precision. Inherited by every event that uses your organisation venue.

Overview

The Organisation Map is an interactive map that appears on your organisation page, showing attendees where your venue is and how to find their way around it. You can centre and zoom the map exactly how you want it, then drop custom markers for entrances, parking, the box office and anything else that helps people arrive without stress.

The map lives in its own Map section in the organisation editor, alongside Venue Info. Like the rest of your venue details, it is inherited by every event that switches on Use organisation's venue & map, so you configure it once and every event using the organisation venue shows the same map.

Enabling the map

Open the Map section in the organisation editor and toggle the switch to show a map. The map appears immediately, centred on your organisation's venue address if you have set one up in Venue Info.

If you have not set an address yet, use the search bar to find your venue. Start typing the name or address and choose from the suggestions, and the map centres on it.

Positioning the map

Drag the map to position it and use the zoom controls to set the level attendees first see. Show enough of the surrounding area for people to orient themselves, while keeping your venue as the clear focus. Your position and zoom save automatically.

Adding markers

Markers highlight the places that matter: the main entrance, accessible access, parking, the box office, food and drink, toilets and more.

Zoom in until the precision grid of small squares appears. Each square is a What3Words location, letting you place a marker with pinpoint accuracy rather than a rough pin. Click a square, choose Add marker, pick the icon that best fits the location, give it a clear name such as "Main Entrance" or "Visitor Car Park", and confirm. The marker appears on the map with its label.

Below the map you will find the list of every marker you have added. Expand a marker to edit its name, add a short description with helpful detail, or change its icon. The crosshair button recentres the map on that marker, and the bin icon removes it.

Street View markers

For locations that are easier to recognise than to describe, drag the Street View person onto a nearby road, navigate until you have a clear view of the spot, and create a marker from that view. Attendees then see a real photo of, for example, the entrance they are looking for.

Map options

You can choose whether to show Google's own points of interest (nearby shops, landmarks and businesses) on top of your own markers. Turn them off for a cleaner map that shows only the locations you have chosen.

How the organisation map is inherited

The map is part of your organisation venue. Every event with Use organisation's venue & map switched on shows this map automatically, exactly the same way it inherits the address, directions and venue imagery. Change a marker or reposition the map once here, and every event using the organisation venue updates in step.

Events that run from a different location can switch the toggle off in the event editor and configure their own map under Event Venue Maps.
