Your Ticket Requests
Overview
Some events on Seaty don't sell tickets directly. Instead, the organiser reviews each request before deciding whether to issue tickets. This is common for school productions, member-only events, and community groups who want to control who gets in.
If you've submitted a request like this, you can see all of your requests on your My Tickets page — the ones waiting for the organiser to review, the ones they've approved, the ones they've refused, and any you've withdrawn yourself.
At its simplest, this page answers one question: What's happening with the tickets I've asked for?
Who uses this: Anyone who has submitted a ticket request for an event.
Key capabilities:
- See every request you've made for an event, grouped by status
- Add or edit notes on a pending request so the organiser sees them
- Cancel a pending request if you no longer need it
- See the order created when a request is approved, and jump straight to your tickets
How It Works
At a glance: Find your event on My Tickets, open the Requests section, use the filters to see requests by status, and use Cancel request if you need to withdraw a pending one.
1. Open your event on My Tickets
Sign in with the same email address you used when making the request, then go to My Tickets and choose the event. You'll see an overview of your orders, balance, and — if you have any — a Requests section further down the page.
2. Filter by status
The Requests section groups everything into four filters:
- Pending — still waiting for the organiser to review
- Approved — the organiser accepted the request and created an order for you
- Rejected — the organiser declined the request, usually with a reason
- Cancelled — requests you withdrew yourself
Pending is selected by default because it's usually the one you care about. Each filter shows a count so you can see at a glance how many requests are in each state.
3. Expand a request to see the details
Click the arrow on any request to expand it. You'll see the request number, the date you submitted it, every seat or ticket you asked for with its price, any notes you added, and — depending on the status — extra information like the rejection reason or cancellation date.
4. Take action on pending requests
While a request is still pending, you can:
- Add or edit notes to explain your request to the organiser
- Cancel the request if you no longer need those tickets
Once the organiser has approved or refused a request, these options are no longer available.
Think of it this way:
- Pending is a request sitting in the organiser's inbox — you can still change your mind or edit the details
- Approved is the organiser saying yes — the request becomes an order and tickets are on their way
- Rejected is the organiser saying no — they'll usually include a reason
- Cancelled is you changing your mind before the organiser got to it
Adding Notes to a Pending Request
Notes are a way to pass helpful information to the organiser before they decide. You might use them to explain why you're requesting, to name the people the tickets are for, or to ask for something specific like an accessible seat.
You can add a note to the request as a whole or to an individual ticket within the request.
How to Add a Note
- Open the Requests section on your My Tickets page
- Expand a pending request
- Click the pencil icon on the request header to add a note to the whole request, or on an individual ticket row to add a note to that specific seat
- Type your note and click Save note
The note is saved immediately and will be visible to the organiser when they review your request.
Editing or Removing a Note
Click an existing note to edit it. To remove a note, clear the text and save an empty note.
Note: Notes can only be added or changed while the request is still Pending. Once the organiser has approved, refused, or you've cancelled the request, notes become read-only.
Cancelling a Pending Request
If you no longer need the tickets you've asked for — plans changed, you found another way to attend, or you simply changed your mind — you can withdraw your own request before the organiser actions it.
How to Cancel
- Open the Requests section on your My Tickets page
- Make sure the Pending filter is selected
- Expand the request you want to withdraw
- Click Cancel request
- Confirm when prompted
The request moves to the Cancelled filter, and any seats it was holding are released straight away so other people can book them. You don't need to contact the organiser — they'll see the cancellation in their own Requests list.
Why confirm? Once cancelled, a request can't be un-cancelled. If you change your mind, you'll need to submit a new request for the same tickets, and the original seats may no longer be available.
When You Can't Cancel
You can only cancel a request while it is still Pending. If the organiser has already:
- Approved your request — an order has been created and tickets issued. You can no longer cancel the request, but you may be able to arrange a refund directly with the organiser. See Request a Refund.
- Refused your request — there is nothing left to cancel. The request is already closed.
If you've already cancelled a request and need those tickets after all, submit a fresh request — the original cannot be reinstated.
Approved Requests
When the organiser approves your request, it disappears from Pending and appears in Approved. At the same time, an order is created in your My Tickets page containing the tickets you requested.
Expanding an approved request shows:
- The original request number
- The date you submitted it
- The new order number the request was turned into
- A View tickets button that opens your tickets in a new tab
Note: Approved requests usually result in an outstanding balance. The organiser can choose to collect payment in different ways — by card through your My Tickets page, by alternative methods arranged with you directly, or by recording a payment received outside Seaty. See your event's Balance section for the amount owed and any online payment option.
Rejected Requests
If the organiser refuses a request, you'll see it under the Rejected filter with the date they rejected it and, in most cases, a short reason explaining why. Common reasons include the event being fully booked, the request falling outside the event's criteria, or a ticket limit having been reached.
A rejected request is final. If your circumstances have changed — for example, you're asking for fewer tickets, a different date, or the organiser has since released more capacity — you're welcome to submit a brand new request. The organiser will be able to see your previous request was rejected, so a note explaining what's changed can help.
Common Questions
Pending Requests
How long will it take for the organiser to action my request? This is up to the organiser. Some review requests immediately, others work through them in batches. If you need a faster answer, contact the organiser directly.
Can I change the seats or ticket quantities on a pending request? No. You can add or edit notes, and you can cancel and submit a new request, but the seats and quantities on an existing request cannot be changed.
I've cancelled a request but I want those tickets after all. What do I do? Submit a new request for the same tickets. The original cancelled request cannot be restored, and the seats you released may have been taken by someone else in the meantime.
Notes
Will the organiser definitely see my notes? Yes, your notes appear alongside the request when the organiser reviews it. Both request-level notes and per-ticket notes are shown together.
Can I edit my notes after the request has been approved or refused? No. Notes are locked once a request leaves the Pending state.
Approved Requests
I've been approved but haven't received a confirmation email. Check your spam or junk folder first. If it's not there, sign in to My Tickets — your tickets will be available there regardless of the email, under the Orders section. If you still can't find them, contact the organiser.
Do I need to pay straight away when a request is approved? Not necessarily — it depends on the organiser. Some allow you to pay later, others expect prompt payment. Your My Tickets page will show your outstanding balance and any online payment option the organiser has enabled.
Rejected Requests
Can I ask the organiser to reconsider? Seaty doesn't have a built-in appeals process. Contact the organiser directly if you'd like to discuss a rejected request, or submit a new request if your circumstances have changed.
The rejection reason doesn't make sense or there's no reason given. Contact the organiser directly. Not all organisers include a reason, and the ones who do can sometimes be brief.
