Attendee FAQ: Tickets, Accounts and Event Entry

Common Seaty questions for ticket buyers: account setup, finding orders, ticket entry, requesting refunds, cancelling requests, and contacting organisers.

Welcome! Whether you're purchasing tickets for your first event on Seaty or you're a regular attendee, this FAQ covers the most common questions from ticket buyers and event-goers. We've organised these by topic to help you find answers quickly.

Getting Started & Accounts

Do I need an account to buy tickets?

No, you can purchase tickets without creating an account. We keep the checkout process quick and simple. However, if you create an account using the same email address you used for your purchase, you'll be able to access all your tickets in one place by visiting the "My Tickets" section once signed in.

How do I create a Seaty account?

Click the 'Sign up' button on the top right of most pages. You can create an account using email (with verification code), Google, Microsoft, or Apple. After signing up with email, check your email for a 6-character security code to verify your account. Sometimes verification emails end up in your junk folder, so check there if you don't see it in your inbox.

I forgot my password. How do I reset it?

On the sign-in page, click 'Forgot password?' and enter your email address. We'll send you a password reset link. Check your junk folder if you don't receive it within a few minutes.

Can I use the same account for different organisations' events?

Yes! Your Seaty account works across all events on the platform. Whether you're attending a school play, theatre production, or community event, you use the same account for everything.

Finding and Buying Tickets

How do I find events on Seaty?

Each event has its own dedicated page with a unique web address. Event organisers typically share this link through their website, social media, or email invitations. If you have a Seaty account and use the mobile app, you can also search for events by name, venue, or organisation.

What payment methods can I use?

You can pay by debit or credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay (on supported devices). All card payments are processed securely through Stripe, and we never store your payment details.

Are there booking fees?

This varies by event. Some organisers include fees in the ticket price, whilst others pass them on to attendees. Any fees are clearly displayed at checkout before you pay, so there are no surprises.

Can I get a refund if I can't attend?

Refund policies are set by the individual event organiser, not by Seaty. Check the event's terms and conditions during checkout, or contact the organiser directly about their refund policy. If the event is cancelled, the organiser will typically contact you about refunds.

What are "seat requests" and how do they work?

Some events allow you to request seats without paying immediately. This is common for school events, theatre companies, and group bookings. Once the organiser approves your request, it becomes a ticket order. You'll need to be signed in with a Seaty account to request tickets. Not all events offer this option. For full details on tracking, editing, and cancelling your requests, see Your Ticket Requests.

Can I cancel a ticket request I've submitted?

Yes, as long as the organiser hasn't already approved or refused it. Sign in, open My Tickets, find the event, and use the Requests section to withdraw any pending request. Once a request has been approved (and tickets issued) or refused, you can no longer cancel it — contact the organiser if you need to arrange a refund. See Your Ticket Requests for step-by-step instructions.

Why do some events require a password?

Event organisers can add passwords to control who can request tickets. This is often used for member-only events or when they want to limit access to specific groups (like parents at a school event or members of a theatre company).

Accessing Your Tickets

Where are my tickets?

If you created a Seaty account using the email address from your purchase, sign in and visit the "My Tickets" section. All your tickets will be there, organised by event and date. If you didn't create an account, check your email for the confirmation message with your ticket details.

I lost my ticket email. How can I get my tickets?

Sign up for a Seaty account using the email address you used to purchase tickets. Once signed in, go to "My Tickets" and all your purchases will appear automatically. If you used a different email address, contact the event organiser with your order details.

Can I access my tickets offline?

Yes! Once you've viewed your tickets whilst online, they're cached on your device. You can access them even if you're at a venue with poor mobile signal. The Seaty mobile app also supports downloading tickets for offline viewing.

Do I need to print my tickets?

No, digital tickets work perfectly. Most venues scan QR codes directly from your phone screen. However, if you prefer printed tickets, you can print the confirmation email or your ticket PDF if the organiser provides one.

Mobile Tickets and Digital Wallet

Is there a Seaty mobile app?

Yes! The Seaty mobile app is available for iOS devices (iPhone and iPad). The app is designed for managing your tickets, accessing QR codes at venue doors, and viewing event information on the go. Note that ticket purchasing is currently done through the website, but your tickets automatically appear in the app once purchased. Android app availability may vary - check the Google Play Store.

Can I add tickets to my Apple Wallet or Google Wallet?

Yes! This is the fastest way to access your tickets at the venue. When viewing your tickets on the website or in the Seaty mobile app, look for the "Add to Apple Wallet" (iOS) or "Add to Google Wallet" (Android) button. Your tickets will then appear on your lock screen when you arrive at the venue.

How do I use my mobile ticket at the venue?

Open your ticket on the website or in the Seaty app (or wallet pass) to display the QR code. Increase your screen brightness to maximum, hold your phone steady toward the scanner, and wait for confirmation. If you have multiple tickets, show each QR code individually.

My QR code won't scan. What should I do?

First, increase your screen brightness to maximum and clean your screen. Try holding your phone at different angles or distances (6-12 inches usually works best). If it still won't scan, try using your digital wallet pass instead, or ask venue staff for manual entry using your ticket ID.

Payments and Pricing

When will my payment be taken?

For card payments, your payment is processed immediately when you complete checkout. For seat requests (if the event offers this option), payment is handled according to the organiser's process—they may allow you to pay later or owe a balance.

Why was I charged a booking fee?

Booking fees help cover the cost of payment processing and platform services. Whether organisers include fees in the ticket price or pass them on to attendees varies by event. The total cost, including all fees, is always shown clearly before you confirm your purchase.

Can I pay in instalments?

This depends on the event organiser's settings. Some events allow seat requests where you can arrange payment later, but standard ticket purchases require full payment at checkout. Contact the event organiser if you need special payment arrangements.

I was charged incorrectly. What do I do?

Contact the event organiser first, as they manage all orders and pricing. If you can't resolve it with them, email us at support@seaty.co.uk with your order details and we'll help investigate.

Making Changes to Orders

Can I change my seats after booking?

This depends on the event organiser's policy. Contact them directly to ask about seat changes. Some organisers can swap your tickets to different seats or dates using Seaty's admin tools.

Can I transfer my tickets to someone else?

Ticket transfer policies are set by event organisers. Contact them to ask if transfers are allowed. If permitted, they can help move your tickets to another person's email address.

I need to cancel my order. How do I do that?

Contact the event organiser directly—they manage all cancellations and refunds. Have your order number ready (found in your confirmation email or in "My Tickets" if you have an account).

Can I buy additional tickets for the same event?

Yes! Return to the event page and make another purchase. If you use the same email address, all your orders for that event will appear together in your account.

Day of Event

When should I arrive at the venue?

Check your ticket and the event page for any specific arrival instructions. Most organisers recommend arriving at least 15-20 minutes before the event start time, especially for events with reserved seating.

What should I bring to the venue?

Your mobile phone with your digital ticket or your printed ticket. We also recommend bringing your booking confirmation email just in case. Some events have specific requirements (like ID or vaccination proof)—check the event details.

What happens if I arrive late?

Late admission policies vary by venue and event type. Check the event's terms and conditions or contact the organiser beforehand if you think you might be late.

The event is cancelled. How do I get a refund?

The event organiser will typically contact all ticket holders about cancellations and refunds. If you haven't heard from them and the event is cancelled, contact them directly using the details on the event page or in your confirmation email.

Technical Issues

The website isn't working. What should I do?

Try refreshing the page or using a different browser. Clear your browser cache if problems persist. If you're on mobile, try the desktop site or vice versa. We support all modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.

I'm not receiving emails from Seaty.

First, check your junk or spam folder—our emails sometimes end up there. Add support@seaty.co.uk to your contacts to ensure future emails arrive in your inbox. If you still don't receive emails, contact us at support@seaty.co.uk.

My payment failed. What went wrong?

Common causes include insufficient funds, incorrect card details, or your bank declining the transaction. Try again with the correct information, or use a different payment method. Contact your bank if the problem continues—they may be blocking the payment.

I can't see my tickets after purchasing.

If you created an account, make sure you're signed in with the same email address you used for purchase. Pull down to refresh the "My Tickets" page. If tickets still don't appear, contact the event organiser with your order details.

Organisation Membership

What does it mean to be an organisation member?

Some events are run by organisations with formal membership (like schools, theatres, or clubs). Members may get early access to tickets, discounts, or access to members-only events. Your membership is managed by the organisation, not by Seaty.

How do I become a member of an organisation?

Contact the organisation directly about membership. Seaty doesn't manage memberships—we simply connect your account when the organisation adds you as a member.

I'm a member but can't access member events.

Ensure you're signed in with the email address the organisation has on file for you. If you still can't access member benefits, contact the organisation to confirm your membership status in their system.

Privacy and Your Data

What information does Seaty collect?

We collect your email address, name, and payment information (processed securely by Stripe—we never store card details). We also collect information about the tickets you purchase and events you attend. Read our full privacy policy at Privacy Policy for complete details.

How is my data used?

Your email address is used to send order confirmations, tickets, and event updates. Event organisers can see your booking details for their events. We never sell your personal information to third parties.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Email support@seaty.co.uk to request account deletion. Note that this doesn't cancel existing ticket orders—contact event organisers separately if you need to cancel bookings.

Is my payment information secure?

Yes. All payments are processed through Stripe, a certified PCI-compliant payment processor. Seaty never sees or stores your full card details. Your payment information is encrypted and secure.
