Seaty App Settings: Customising the Mobile App
The Seaty app settings let you personalise your experience across appearance, scanning behaviour, notifications, and data management. Whether you need accessibility themes, offline scanning for events, or simply prefer a different look, settings give you control.
At its simplest, settings answer one question: How do I want the app to work for me?
Who uses this: Anyone using the Seaty mobile app.
Key capabilities:
- Choose between light, dark, or system appearance with accessibility themes
- Configure scanning camera, torch, sounds, and offline mode
- Manage push notification preferences
- Control haptic feedback for buttons and scanning
- Clear downloaded files, offline data, and cached content
- Reset the app to default settings
How It Works
At a glance: Open settings from the menu, choose a category, and adjust individual options. Changes apply immediately and sync to your account when signed in.
1. Access settings
Tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top navigation, then select Settings. You see five categories: General, Display, Scan, Data & Privacy, and Notifications.
2. Choose a category
Each category groups related settings together. Display handles appearance and themes. Scan controls camera behaviour. General manages haptic feedback. Data & Privacy lets you clear stored data. Notifications controls push alerts.
3. Adjust settings
Toggle switches, select options, or use sliders to change values. Most changes apply immediately so you can see the effect straight away.
4. Settings sync automatically
When signed in, your settings save to your account and sync across all your devices. When signed out, settings stay on the current device only.
Think of it this way:
- General controls how buttons feel when you tap them
- Display controls how the app looks
- Scan controls how ticket scanning works
- Notifications controls what alerts you receive
- Data & Privacy lets you clear stored information

Common Questions
Syncing
Do my settings sync across devices? Yes, when signed in. Your display, scan, general, and notification preferences sync automatically. Downloaded files and offline data stay on each device.
What happens to my settings if I sign out? Settings load from your account when you sign in again. Any changes made while signed out stay on that device only.
Accessibility
Which themes help with colour blindness? The Display settings include themes for protanopia (red deficiency), deuteranopia (green deficiency), tritanopia (blue deficiency), and monochromacy (complete colour blindness).
Can I make text larger? Yes. Display settings include preset sizes up to Extra Large (130%), or use the custom slider for up to 150%.
Offline Mode
When should I enable offline scanning? Enable it before events where internet connectivity may be unreliable. Download ticket data while connected, then scan works without internet.
Does offline scanning check people in? When in offline mode, scans validate tickets locally but do not record check-ins on the server. You can sync scan history later when online.
Data Management
What does clearing the cache do? It removes temporary files and image previews to free up space. Your downloads, settings, and offline tickets are not affected.
Can I recover data after clearing it? Downloaded files can be re-downloaded from event file lists. Offline tickets can be re-downloaded. Settings can be reconfigured. Favourites need to be re-added manually.
