App General Settings on the Seaty Mobile App

Configure general preferences in the Seaty mobile app: enable button vibration feedback and other app-wide behaviour options on iOS or Android.

Overview

General settings control how the app feels when you use it. Currently, this includes button vibration feedback - brief vibrations that confirm when you tap buttons.

At its simplest, general settings answers one question: How should the app respond when I tap buttons?

Who uses this: Anyone using the Seaty mobile app.

Key capabilities:

  • Turn button vibration on or off
  • Changes apply immediately across the entire app
  • Settings sync across your devices when signed in
  • Works offline with changes saved for later sync

How It Works

At a glance: Toggle a switch, feel (or don't feel) the difference immediately.

1. Access general settings

Open the main menu and tap Settings, then tap General. You'll see a section called "Haptic Feedback" with a toggle for button vibration.

2. Adjust your preference

Tap the Button haptics toggle to turn vibration on or off. When enabled, you'll feel a brief vibration each time you tap a button. When disabled, buttons respond silently.

3. Test the change

The change applies immediately. Tap any button in the app to confirm it feels the way you expect.

Think of it this way:

  • Button haptics on gives you tactile confirmation - like feeling a click when pressing a physical button
  • Button haptics off gives you silent operation - useful when vibration would be distracting
  • Scan haptics (in scan settings) are separate - you can have different preferences for scanning and general button presses

When to Adjust This Setting

Turn vibration on when:

  • You want physical confirmation of button presses
  • You're in a noisy environment where visual feedback alone isn't enough
  • You have difficulty seeing the screen clearly

Turn vibration off when:

  • You're scanning tickets during a quiet performance
  • Vibration feels distracting to you
  • You want to conserve battery during long events

How Settings Are Saved

When signed in: Your preference saves to your Seaty account and syncs across all your devices. Sign in on a new phone and your settings come with you.

When signed out: Your preference saves only on this device. If you reinstall the app or clear its data, the setting resets to the default (vibration enabled).

When offline: Changes apply immediately and save locally. When your connection returns, the app automatically uploads your preference to your account.

Resetting to Default

To reset button vibration (and all other settings) to their defaults:

  1. Go to Settings then Data & Privacy
  2. Tap Reset all settings
  3. Confirm the reset

Button vibration returns to enabled (the default for new installations).

If Vibration Isn't Working

Check your device settings first:

  • Your phone's vibration must be enabled at the system level
  • "Do Not Disturb" modes on some devices can block vibrations
  • Try another app that vibrates to confirm your phone's vibration works

Check the app setting:

  • Open Settings then General and verify button haptics is turned on
  • Try turning it off and back on
  • Close and reopen the app

Vibration feels wrong:

  • The vibration intensity is controlled by your device, not the app
  • Check your phone's system settings for vibration strength options
  • The app can only turn vibration on or off, not adjust its intensity

Scan haptics control vibration when scanning tickets and are configured separately in scan settings. You might want button vibration off but scan vibration on, or vice versa.

System haptics on your device affect all apps. If you disable vibration at the system level, the app cannot override this.

Common Questions

General

Why is there only one setting here? General settings currently focuses on button vibration. Additional preferences may be added in future updates.

Does this affect scan vibrations? No. Button haptics and scan haptics are independent settings. Configure scan vibrations separately in Settings then Scan.

Syncing

Will my setting transfer to a new phone? Yes, if you're signed in. Your preference is stored with your Seaty account and loads automatically when you sign in on any device.

What happens if I change the setting on two devices at once? The most recent change wins. The app uploads your preference when it reconnects, so the last device to sync determines the final value.

Troubleshooting

I enabled vibration but nothing happens Check your phone's system vibration settings. The app uses your device's built-in vibration, which must be enabled at the system level.

Vibration works in other apps but not Seaty Verify the button haptics toggle is on in general settings. If it is, try closing and reopening the app.
