Getting Started
The Seaty mobile app puts event management, ticket scanning, and ticket access in your pocket. Whether you're an attendee viewing your tickets, event staff scanning at the door, or an administrator managing your events remotely, the app provides the tools you need.
At its simplest, getting started answers one question: How do I install the app and sign in to access my events or tickets?
Who uses this: Attendees, event staff, and administrators on iOS or Android devices.

- Download and install the app on iOS or Android
- Sign in with email, Apple ID, or a device code for shared scanning devices
- Browse events and view your purchased tickets
- Scan tickets at venue entrances (staff and administrators)
- Access event management features on mobile (administrators)
How It Works
At a glance: Download the app, sign in with your preferred method, and access your events or tickets based on your role.
1. Download and install
Get the free Seaty app from your device's app store. The app works on iOS 13.0+ and Android 8.0+.
2. Sign in
Choose your sign-in method based on your needs: email for universal access, Apple ID for quick iOS authentication, or device code for shared scanning devices.
3. Explore your role
The home screen adapts to show relevant content. Customers see public events and their tickets. Staff see events they can scan. Administrators see their organisation's events with management tools.
Think of it this way:
- Customers use the app to browse events, buy tickets, and show their QR codes at the door
- Event staff use the app to scan tickets and track attendance
- Administrators use the app to monitor events and manage operations remotely

First Launch
When you open Seaty for the first time, you'll see the home screen with options to sign in or browse available public events.
Browsing Without Signing In
You can explore public events without creating an account. Tap any event card to view details, venue information, and ticket options. However, you'll need to sign in to purchase tickets or access administrative features.
Creating an Account
If you don't have a Seaty account yet:
- Tap Sign In on the home screen
- Select Sign in with Email
- Tap Create Account at the bottom
- Follow the web registration process
- Return to the app and sign in with your new credentials
Sign-In Options
The Seaty mobile app offers multiple ways to authenticate, depending on your needs and device.
Email Sign-In
Sign in using your email address and password. This works across all devices and platforms.
How to sign in with email:
- Tap Sign In on the home screen
- Select Sign in with Email
- Enter your email address
- Enter your password
- Tap Sign In
The app remembers your credentials securely, so you won't need to sign in again unless you sign out or switch accounts.
Apple Sign-In (iOS Only)
Quick sign-in using your Apple ID with Face ID or Touch ID.
How to sign in with Apple:
- Tap Sign In on the home screen
- Select Sign in with Apple
- Authenticate using Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode
- Authorise Seaty to access your Apple ID
First-time users: Apple Sign-In creates a Seaty account automatically using your Apple ID email. You can manage this in your Apple ID settings.
Note: Google Sign-In is not currently available in the Seaty mobile app. Use email or Apple Sign-In instead.
Device Sign-In
Special authentication mode for shared scanning devices at venues. Device sign-in doesn't require personal credentials, making it perfect for staff devices at event entrances.
How to use device sign-in:
- Obtain a device code from your event administrator
- Tap Sign In on the home screen
- Select Sign in with Device Code
- Enter the device code
- Tap Sign In
Why use device sign-in? Device codes allow shared scanning devices at venues without requiring personal credentials. This is ideal for events with multiple staff members using the same tablets or phones at entrances.
Note: Device accounts have limited permissions focussed on scanning and attendance tracking. They cannot access administrative features or make purchases.

Permissions
The Seaty app requests specific permissions to provide its features. You can manage these in your device settings at any time.
Camera Permission
Used for: Scanning QR codes on tickets at venue entrances
When requested: First time you access the scanning feature
iOS: Settings → Seaty → Camera
Android: Settings → Apps → Seaty → Permissions → Camera
Why is this permission needed? Camera access is required exclusively for scanning QR codes on tickets. Without it, scanning functionality will not work, but all other features remain available.
Notification Permission (Optional)
Used for: Event reminders, order updates, and scanning alerts
When requested: After first sign-in
iOS: Settings → Seaty → Notifications
Android: Settings → Apps → Seaty → Notifications
Why enable notifications? Notifications keep you informed about order confirmations, event reminders, and important updates from event organisers. While optional, they ensure you never miss critical information about your events.
Basic Navigation
Home Screen
The home screen shows available events. As a customer, you'll see public events you can purchase tickets for. As an administrator, you'll see your organisation's events plus any events where you have staff access.
Search Events: Tap the search icon or field at the top to find specific events by name, venue, or date.
Filter Options: Use filters to show only favourites, upcoming events, or events with offline data.
Event Cards: Each event displays its image, name, venue, dates, and status. Tap any event to view full details.
Navigation Menu
Access the main menu by tapping the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top-left corner of most screens.
Menu Options:
- Home: Return to the event list
- My Tickets: View your purchased tickets (customers)
- Settings: Customise app behaviour and manage privacy
- Offline Data: Download events for offline scanning (staff)
- Downloads: Access downloaded files and media
- Sign Out: Sign out of your current account
Event Screen
Tapping an event card opens the event detail screen with comprehensive information.
As a Customer:
- View event description and dates
- Check venue location and directions
- Purchase tickets
- View your existing tickets for this event
- Add event to calendar
As Staff or Administrator:
- Access scanning interface
- View attendee lists
- Process orders and refunds
- Download offline data
- Access event files and media
Ticket Screen
Tap any ticket in "My tickets" to view the full digital ticket with QR code.
Features:
- Full-screen QR code for scanning
- Ticket details (seat, date, name)
- Add to Apple Wallet (iOS only)
- Event information and directions
Note: The Seaty app does not currently support ticket transfers or sales directly from the mobile app. Contact your event organiser for ticket transfer options.
Common First Tasks
For Customers
Browse events and purchase tickets:
- Open the app to view available events on the home screen
- Use search or filters to find specific events
- Tap an event card to view full details
- Tap "Buy Tickets" to start the purchase process
- Follow the checkout flow to complete your order
View your tickets:
- Tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines)
- Select "My tickets"
- Tap any ticket to view the full-screen QR code
- Optionally add to Apple Wallet (iOS only) for quick access

For Event Staff
Set up scanning:
- Obtain a device code from your event administrator
- Sign in using device code (see "Device Sign-In" section above)
- Navigate to your event from the home screen
- Tap "Scan Tickets" to open the scanning interface
- Grant camera permission when prompted
- Download offline data if advised by your administrator
Start scanning tickets:
- Point your device camera at the ticket QR code
- Wait for automatic scan (no button press needed)
- Check visual feedback:
- Green screen = Valid ticket, admit attendee
- Red screen = Issue detected (already scanned, wrong event, etc.)
- Read the on-screen message for specific details
- Proceed to next ticket
Why download offline data? Offline data allows you to scan tickets without an internet connection, ensuring scanning works reliably even with poor venue connectivity.

For Administrators
Access your events:
- Sign in with your administrator account using email or Apple Sign-In
- View your organisation's events on the home screen
- Tap any event to view details and management options
- Access event files, attendee lists, and scanning tools
Download offline data for your staff:
- Open your event from the home screen
- Tap "Offline Data Management"
- Select "Download Event Data"
- Wait for download to complete
- Data is now available for offline scanning without internet
Why this matters: Providing offline data to your scanning staff ensures reliable ticket validation even with poor venue connectivity.
Process orders and refunds:
The Seaty mobile app provides read-only access to orders and refunds. To process refunds or modify orders, use the Seaty web dashboard.
What you can do on mobile:
- View order details and customer information
- Check payment status and ticket allocation
- Access attendee lists and check-in status
What requires the web dashboard:
- Processing refunds (full or partial)
- Modifying order details
- Reassigning tickets to different dates

Common Questions
Installation
What devices are supported? iOS devices running iOS 13.0 or later, and Android devices running Android 8.0 or later. This includes most devices manufactured after 2018.
Is the app free to download? Yes. The Seaty app is free on both the App Store and Google Play. You only pay when purchasing tickets.
Can I use Seaty without creating an account? Yes. You can browse public events without signing in. However, you need an account to purchase tickets, access your tickets, or use staff features.
Sign-In
Which sign-in method should I use? Email sign-in works on all devices and platforms. Apple Sign-In (iOS only) is fastest if you have an Apple device. Device sign-in is for shared scanning devices at venues.
Why is Google Sign-In not available? Google Sign-In is not currently supported in the Seaty mobile app. Use email or Apple Sign-In instead. Google Sign-In is available on the web dashboard.
Can I switch between accounts? Yes. Sign out from the menu, then sign in with a different account. The app supports one signed-in account at a time.
Permissions
What happens if I deny camera permission? You can still browse events, view tickets, and use all features except ticket scanning. Grant camera permission later in your device settings if needed.
Are notifications required? No. Notifications are optional but recommended. Without them, you may miss order confirmations and event updates.
Role Access
Why do I see different events than my colleague? The home screen shows events based on your permissions. Customers see public events. Staff see events they can scan. Administrators see their organisation's events.
How do I get administrator access? Your organisation owner grants administrator permissions through the web dashboard. Contact your organisation owner to request access.
Troubleshooting First Launch
Cannot Find Seaty in App Store
Use the direct download links:
- iOS: Seaty iOS App
- Android: Seaty Android App
Check your device compatibility:
- iOS devices need iOS 13.0 or later
- Android devices need Android 8.0 or later
If the link doesn't work:
- Check your device model meets minimum requirements
- Update your App Store or Google Play Store app
- Ensure your device region is set to a supported country
Sign-In Fails
Check your credentials:
- Verify email and password are correct (check for typos)
- Try resetting your password on the web dashboard
- Ensure you have an active internet connection
- Check that your account is active (not suspended)
Apple Sign-In issues:
- Ensure you're signed into your Apple ID on your device (Settings → Apple ID)
- Check that Seaty has authorisation in your Apple ID settings
- Try signing out and back into your Apple ID
- Restart your device and try again
- Update to the latest iOS version
App Crashes on Launch
Basic troubleshooting:
- Force quit the app and restart it
- Restart your device completely
- Ensure you have the latest version from the App Store
- Check for iOS or Android system updates
- Free up device storage (need at least 100MB free space)
Still having issues?
- Uninstall the app completely
- Restart your device
- Reinstall the app from the store
- If problems persist, contact support@seaty.co.uk with:
- Device model and operating system version
- Steps that trigger the crash
- Screenshot of any error messages
Camera Not Working for Scanning
Check camera permissions:
iOS: Settings → Seaty → Camera (must be enabled)
Android: Settings → Apps → Seaty → Permissions → Camera (must be allowed)
Still not working?
- Force quit and restart the Seaty app
- Toggle the camera permission off, then back on
- Restart your device
- Ensure no other app is using the camera
- Test your camera in the default camera app to rule out hardware issues
Cannot See My Events
For customers:
- Ensure you're signed into your account (not browsing as a guest)
- Tap the menu icon and select "My tickets" to view purchased tickets
- Check your email confirmation to verify your purchase was successful
- Verify the tickets are for upcoming events (past events may not display)
For administrators:
- Verify you're signed into the correct administrator account
- Check with your organisation owner about your user permissions
- Ensure events are published and active (not draft or archived)
- Try signing out and back in to refresh your event list
