File Storage Locations on Your Mobile Device
The Seaty mobile app provides access to shared files for your events and organisations. Your role determines which file libraries you can view, and downloaded files remain available even without internet.
At its simplest, file locations answer one question: Where can I find the files I need for this event or organisation?
Who uses this: Event members, performers, and administrators with file access permissions.
Key capabilities:

How It Works
At a glance: You open a file location, browse available files, and download what you need. Downloaded files stay on your device until you delete them.
1. Choose a location
When you open the Files screen, you see the file libraries available to you. These are separated by whether they belong to an event or an organisation, and whether they contain admin-only or shared files.
2. Browse and download
Tap any location to see its contents. You can navigate through folders and download individual files. The first time you access a location, you may need to sign in.
3. Access offline
Downloaded files appear in your Downloads screen. These work without internet and remain available until you delete them from your device.
Think of it this way:
- File locations are like different filing cabinets for different purposes
- Downloading copies a file to your device for offline use
- The Downloads screen shows everything you have saved locally
Available File Locations
Your available locations depend on your role in each event or organisation. The app shows only the locations you have permission to access.
Event Files

Note: Event creators automatically receive admin access. Organisation creators are primary administrators. Your permissions may change if an administrator updates your role.
Permission Changes
When your permissions change:
- New locations appear immediately when access is granted
- Removed locations disappear from the Files screen
- Previously downloaded files remain on your device
- You cannot download new files from locations you no longer have access to
Why do downloaded files stay? Files you have already downloaded are copies on your device. Removing your cloud access does not delete your local copies, though the files in the cloud may be updated without you seeing those changes.
Downloading Files for Offline Use
The recommended workflow for events:
- Download needed files before the event starts
- Access files from your Downloads screen during the event (works offline)
- Use cloud file locations when you have internet to check for updates
- Delete downloads after the event to free device space
Note: Downloaded files are stored permanently on your device until you delete them. Large downloads will use your device storage, so delete files you no longer need.
Storage Management
View your storage usage on the Downloads screen footer. From here you can:
- See total space used by Seaty downloads
- Delete individual files by swiping or tapping
- Remove all downloads with a single button
- Monitor when device storage is running low
When your device storage runs low, the app displays warnings and offers options to delete downloads.
File Access Without Internet

If you lose internet while browsing cloud files, you can still access anything you have already downloaded from the Downloads screen.
Sharing Files
Downloaded files can be shared using your device's native sharing features:
- On iPhone: Use the share sheet, including AirDrop
- On Android: Share to any compatible app
Tap the share button on any downloaded file to see your options.
Common Questions
Permissions
Why can I not see a file location I expected?
Your account may not have the required permissions. Check with the event or organisation administrator to confirm your role. Also verify you are signed in with the correct account.
What happens if my permissions are removed?
The location disappears from your Files screen. Any files you already downloaded remain on your device, but you cannot download new files or see updates.
Authentication
Why am I asked to sign in when opening a file location?
The first time you access each location, you need to authorise the connection. After this, the app remembers your authorisation for future visits.
What if authentication keeps failing?
Check your internet connection, close and reopen the app, then try again. Ensure you are using the correct account when signing in.
Files and Downloads
Why do my downloaded files not show the latest changes?
Downloaded files are copies from when you downloaded them. To see updates, delete the local file and download it again from the cloud location.
How do I refresh the file list?
Navigate away from the folder and back again, or pull down to refresh on most screens.
