Johnstone Phoenix Theatre Group has deep roots in the community, originally founded in 1963
as the Johnstone Operatic and Dramatic Society.
In the early years, like many local groups, we faced challenges. By 1972, with fewer members and less support, the club shifted its focus to concert parties, small, heartfelt performances aimed at raising funds and sparking fresh interest. Thanks to the incredible dedication and passion of our members, the group made a remarkable comeback. Rising from the ashes, we found new energy and inspiration, and with that, a new
name: Johnstone Phoenix Theatre Group.
Today, we’re proud to bring high-quality, engaging theatre to Johnstone and the surrounding area.
For us, it’s not just about putting on a show, it’s about creating a welcoming space where
everyone feels like part of the family. Whether you're in the audience or on stage, you’re part
of something special. After decades of hard work and community support, we’re proud to be at
the heart of local amateur theatre, still growing, still creating, and always aiming to inspire.
